Jonas Vingegaard was not in the mood to talk to the media after being beaten by more than two minutes at the hands of
Tadej Pogacar on the final climb to the line at Hautacam on stage 12 of the 2025
Tour de France.
The Danish leader of
Team Visma | Lease a Bike raced past the assembled media, hoping to get his reaction, and headed straight for the Visma team bus, looking to get off the mountain as soon as possible after his defeat. Vingegaard's sports director
Grischa Niermann did quickly address the media though, stressing that whilst it was no doubt a disappointing day for the whole team, it wasn't the end of the world.
“I don’t know if it was a bad day for Jonas – it certainly wasn’t his best,” Niermann explaining, looking to even slightly calm the doom and gloom surrounding the team after a chastening experience on Hautacam. “But let’s not forget, he’s still the best of the rest. I want to take my hat off to Tadej Pogačar. He proved stronger than anyone today.”
