Jonas Vingegaard missed out on the victory in Arinsal. The Dane had to bow down before Remco Evenepoel who was faster in the uphill sprint, but afterwards spoke about a lesser day.
"I didn't have my best day. That's part of it. You can't have the best possible legs day in and day out," the Tour de France winner opens up on his team's website. "Partly because of that, I can live with second place. As said, Remco is the deserved winner."
Because of his second place, Vingegaard is in fourth place in the general classification. His gap to Evenepoel is 31 seconds. "I think I got the most out of it for myself. In addition, we also showed our best side as a team today."
