For Jonas Rickaert, the 2022 season is as good as over. The 28-year-old Belgian rider from Alpecin-Fenix has been struggling with a kink in his left groin artery for a while now and that's why the Belgian rider now has to go under the knife. At the end of June he will be on the operating table in Eindhoven, the Belgian announced via his Instagram account.
"It’s time for a medical update: After many investigations in the hospital they could see that there is a kink in my artery. That's why I always get a strange feeling in my left leg.The surgery will take place by the end of June in Eindhoven," he wrote.
"After that, a long rehabilitation awaits me," Rickaert wrote. "This year I will probably not be in action again. But I'm going to work hard to come back stronger. I want to wish my teammates at Alpecin-Fenix good luck for the rest of the season and just continue the way you did the first half of the season. See you all later," he concluded.
