Jesús Herrada has renewed his contract with the
Cofidis team for two more years. The Spanish rider, who landed at the French squad in 2018 from Movistar Team, will thus complete no less than eight years with the Gallic outfit.
Herrada, 32, is currently contesting the overall of the Route d'Occitania and earlier this year he took a win at the Tour du Doubs and a stage at the Tour of Oman. Last year he added his second win in the Vuelta España (the first was in 2019).
In total, he accumulates 20 victories as a professional in a very solid career with victories in Dauphiné, Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenge, Luxembourg... This year he will try again for a victory in the Tour de France, something that for now has eluded him in his successful career.
Herrada, very happy with his renewal: "I'm very happy to stay with Cofidis. I feel very good with the other riders and the staff. From now on, it's like my second family! Staying with the team is a guarantee to face the future with enthusiasm and serenity. With Cofidis, we are lucky to participate in some of the most prestigious cycling races in the world, and that makes you want to do everything possible to win again.
"All my victories have been great moments. I want the confidence the team has given me to be a source of motivation to aim for more, and if possible already at the Route d'Occitanie or the Spanish championships." Cofidis, delighted to continue counting on Herrada, as sports manager Cedrick Vasseur commented:
"Jesus is a valued member of the team and we are delighted to be able to continue the adventure together. Since his arrival at Cofidis in 2018, he has contributed enormously to the growth of the team and has enabled it to reach new levels in the UCI World Tour. We know that he is capable of winning at the highest level and against the best riders in the world, as he has already demonstrated on the roads of his national tour, the Vuelta a España. Now we want to allow him to go even higher and achieve other prestigious victories. His next two goals will be the Spanish championships and the Vuelta, and we know he'll be there!"
