After a dream start to the 2025
Tour de France,
Alpecin-Deceuninck’s campaign took a dramatic turn on stage 3 as Jasper
Philipsen crashed out during the intermediate sprint for the green jersey. The
Belgian sprinter, who had claimed victory on stage 1 and briefly held the
yellow jersey, suffered a broken collarbone and rib in the incident and has
since undergone surgery.
"Stage three of the Tour de France was a tough day for
us, as
Jasper Philipsen had to leave the race after a heavy crash during the
intermediate sprint for the green jersey. He has now successfully undergone
surgery at AZ Herentals to repair his collarbone and AC joint,"
Alpecin-Deceuninck shared on Instagram.
