Iván García Cortina, after almost winning in Burgos: "It's a bit bitter second, but I'm happy with the sensations"

Iván García Cortina is not having an easy year and yesterday in the first stage of the Vuelta a Burgos he managed to finish second in the final sprint behind Juan Sebastián Molano in what is so far his best result of the year after the third he did in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana at the beginning of the season;

Movistar Team's Asturian is not having an easy 2023. He was fifth in the E3 Saxo Classic in the WorldTour race in which he has shown the highest level and since then he had not found his pedal stroke again. He missed a great opportunity in Castilla y León finishing fourth in the first stage and now he has almost won in Burgos. This is how he explained what happened after the stage:

"We entered the last corner quite well, with one kilometer to go, and then in the final part we were in the top 5, we started to pass a few people on the right, I was a little locked up on the right side and well I started quite well, with strength, but it was not enough to take the victory. In the end a second a little bit bitter, but well, happy with the feeling and with the result, we'll see how the team time trial goes".
