Nils Politt had taken a while to restart his pro win tally but last year he unblocked his winning ways by winning a stage in the Tour de France, alongside a stage and GC win at the Deutschland Tour. Now, with no intention of stopping, he's taken his first win of 2022 at the Run um Köln, his home race.
“It’s always been a dream to win Rund um Köln one day, today this dream finally came true! We were able to make the race hard, jump in the group of the day with six riders and so play our cards," he said after the finish.
With Politt, Sam Bennett and Danny van Poppel at the start, the German team was keen on taking the win on one of the few events Germany has in pro cycling. They've thrived, as the peloton had no response when Politt and van Poppel went on the attack in the final hour of racing together with Nikias Arndt this past Sunday.
Using the traditional one-two, eventually Politt managed to escape to take a very meaningful win. "We raced super strong as a team and ultimately managed to take the double win with Danny in 2nd," Politt concluded, as his Dutch teammate rolled in for a second place confirming the team's dominance in the race.

His interviews include leading riders, team managers, and prominent figures within cycling media: Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Mathieu van der Poel, Primoz Roglic, Wout van Aert, Joao Almeida and Tom Pidcock; managers like Patrick Lefevere and Joxean Matxin; and YouTube personality Bryan Kennedy (BKXC)...
Within 18 months of launch, he helped grow CyclingUpToDate’s English-language platform into one of the most-read cycling news websites, built entirely from the ground up. - It would be great if the World Champion's jersey could be rotated among McNulty, Simmons, and Jorgenson. They threaded the needle perfectly. If each hadn't done exactly what he did, exactly when he did it, the race would have gone to one of the more heralded superstars. That said, how nice that this humble and hardworking guy gets his moment in the sun.

Perhaps you haven’t been around much to discover how complex problems can become over time with people who know how to control, manipulate (or worse) others so gradually or subtly that you arrive at an irresolvable situation before you realise. This is how many inconveniences get introduced to the young, naïve, passionate or “desperate”, knowing they are not armed, protected or strong enough to defend themselves once it’s too late. Why do you think omerta culture is so widespread, why do you think so many people continue to go through so many awful things in life that others can’t understand anyone getting into?
