“It was a big goal of mine, I dreamed of it" - Marlen Reusser makes history as first Swiss winner of the Tour de Suisse Women

Team SD Worx's dominance of the Women's World Tour peloton on another near-perfect day for the team at the Tour de Suisse and Niamh Fisher-Black took victory on the final stage and Marlen Reusser secured the overall race win.

"I'm so happy. It was a big goal of mine, I dreamed of it," the 31-year-old Reusser said in her post-stage interview. "The team was 100 percent behind it and did everything they could to make it possible. I am super proud and super happy, it's a dream come true."

On the final day of racing there would have been some momentary worry for Reusser as Katarzyna Niewiadoma took the virtual lead of the race on the road. A counter-attack from the Swiss wasn't able to fully bring back Niewiadoma, although she did more than enough to regain the race lead.

"It was not a good situation, with Niewiadoma in the front," Reusser admits. "Trek-Segafredo didn't help us, it was just me and Demi Vollering. No one helped her, so I chose to attack. That worked out positively."
