The Vuelta a España 2026 is also delivering stories away from the race, and one of the protagonists has been Erola Jons. The content creator crossed paths with Iñigo Elósegui, a Kern Pharma rider, and the pair shared a light-hearted chat that even ended with a plan to go for a spin together on the rest day.
The Basque rider, still looking for a team to continue as a professional in 2027, is immersed in a race that is especially important for his future. Even so, during La Vuelta he has also found time to top a very different classification. One in which, at least for now, he sits in first place.
The meeting between Erola Jons and Elósegui quickly made it clear this would not be a conventional cycling interview. As soon as she met the rider, the creator offered a distinctive take on his performance.
“I’m not quite sure how you’re doing on GC, but in my standings you’re first,” Erola quipped. Elósegui took the remark with a laugh and replied with a simple “Thank you very much.” From there, the conversation flowed naturally, pushing official classifications, climbs, and competition into the background for a moment.

Jons interviews rider

Erola wanted to know if the Kern Pharma rider would stay in the race until the end. When he answered yes, she suggested making the most of some free time during the three-week event.
Beyond the anecdote, Elósegui faces a far weightier situation in these weeks. The 28-year-old rider has yet to secure his place in the professional peloton for next season.
For now, the Basque continues racing La Vuelta while he awaits news about his future. Each stage is a fresh chance to show his level and try to find an opportunity that keeps him in the bunch.

Erola Jons sends a message

Amid that uncertainty, the meeting with Erola Jons produced one of the most relaxed moments of the race. “You were incredible,” the creator told him in the end.
In Erola’s personal classification, Elósegui already has the leader’s jersey.
And the creator herself seems clear this won’t be her last time at the race. On social media she left a message that hints at a return: “I think I’ll be back at La Vuelta.”
