INEOS reveal all-in lineup to chase Vuelta a Espana win with Richard Carapaz

INEOS Grenadiers have revealed their lineup for the upcoming Vuelta a Espana and they will be high up in the ranks, with a team that features world-class riders on every terrain, and the ambitions are high coming into it.

"As a previous winner, and having placed second in 2020, we’re looking forward to Richie drawing on that experience and leading the team as the race heads for Madrid," Team principal said regarding Richard Carapaz. The Ecuadorian finished second at the Giro d'Italia this year after several days in pink, but having finished his last three Grand Tours inside the podium, he'll be one of the most reliable choices for the GC and a big candidate for the win.

“Our team for the Vuelta is a really exciting one; a great mix of experience and youth, which we believe will produce some outstanding racing," he added. Supporting him on the mountains will be no less than 2020 Giro d'Italia winner Tao Geoghegan Hart, recent Vuelta a Burgos winner and Clasica San Sebastian runner-up Pavel Sivakov, and Spanish national champion and climbing supertalent Carlos Rodríguez. Luke Plapp, who has impressed with world-class climbing performances early in the year and is the current Australian national champion, will be making his debut in a Grand Tour.

The support however does not end there. Veteran Dylan van Baarle will be racing his final Grand Tour with the team, after racing the whole Tour de France in support of Geraint Thomas. The Paris-Roubaix winner will be joined by Ben Turner in being critical support riders for the flat days, a revelation in the classics this year, however a rider that can do very well over the hilly terrain aswell.

Furthermore, the Grand Tour debut of Ethan Hayter has also been confirmed. Not only is he within the realm of a big support role for Carapaz, but his time-trialing prowess will see him as a valuable card in the opening team time-trial, and the Briton will have countless opportunities to take stage wins after he proved his form at the recent Tour de Pologne where he conquered the overall classification.
