Gazzetta dello Sports' Ciro Scognamiglio has reported that
INEOS Grenadiers are interesting in making a bid to Eritrean superstar
Biniam Girmay with the intent of hiring him for the coming seasons. Girmay is currently under contract with
Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux.
Girmay is currently under contract with the Belgian team, and according to the same source, there was contractual discussion that featured the possibility of the 22-year old tripling his salary and have a €1.000.000 yearly salary, with discussions set to take place when Girmay returns to Europe before the Giro d'Italia where he will be making his debut.
Intermarché are believed to be in talks to extend his contract to 2026 as soon as possible, on top of his current connection with the team. Several teams are said to have interest in him, coming as little surprise due to his recent success at the cobbled classics where despite very little experience, he has thrived, finishing fifth at the E3 Saxo Bank Classic and winning Gent-Wevelgem.
