"I'm not going to talk about that too much now" - Demi Vollering 'surprised' by Team SD Worx - Protime's public departure announcement

Demi Vollering's contract is up at the end of 2024 and the Dutch rider, leader of the UCI rankings currently, will move out of Team SD Worx - Protime. However, she reveals she as very surprised that the team made it public this week with a message on social media sharing details on the situation.

"Sometimes it’s really crazy but the offer we made was pretty good and then we said it was an ultimatum because we needed to go on," team manager Erwin Janssen said in words to Cyclingnews. "Her management didn’t give the go for that and that meant for us that they didn’t want to go on with the team." Vollering's management is said to be in talks with UAE Team ADQ and Lidl-Trek - the latter according to GCN's Daniel Benson.

This will certainly be a transfer that will rock up the transfer season and be perhaps the key move in the women's market, also with the possibility of her new contract reaching an all-time high in terms of salary in the field. However not all is pretty, as the Dutch rider tells: “I was a bit surprised by the team's statement but I'm not going to talk about that too much now," Vollering said in words to NU.nl.

"There will be plenty of questions about my future in the near future. I want to focus on all the competitions to come this year, starting on Sunday with the Tour of Flanders. I'm not thinking about saying goodbye right now," she concluded.
