The roads of Strade Bianche weren't picky about its victims last Saturday. Next to the biggest of all - Tadej Pogacar, also one of the favorites in women's race Katarzyna Niewiadoma became closer with the sterrato roads than she would've wished.
The CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto rider therefore didn't have an opportunity to add to her four podium finishes, as she was forced to abandon. "I would always feel disappointed missing out on the podium in Strade Bianche Donne," she writes on her Instagram.
Luckily, X-ray scans showed no fractures and so, besides losing (quite) a bit of skin, she has no major worries. That means the rider from Poland can already plan her next appointments.
"I guess I got a different perspective now! It always could be worst so I’m grateful for what I’ve got, in this case: pretty strong bones," Niewiadoma can laugh about the situation. "Final looked great and I just wish I was part of it! That’s the best part of each race! And I hope to be there soon again!"
