The third sprint stage of the 2023
Tour de France and the third victory for
Alpecin-Deceuninck's
Jasper Philipsen. The 25-year-old is proving unbeatable at this year's race.
"I think we can be proud of our team achievement," says Philipsen in his post-stage interview, giving plenty of praise to his teammates. "Without them I don't think it would be possible to take this third stage win already so I'm just really proud of them, how they worked together and how we found each other in the final to do everything we can. I'm super happy and proud."
Philipsen was once again given a near perfect leadout by
Mathieu van der Poel, and even when
Mark Cavendish took the lead with the finish line nearing, Philipsen never panicked. "I was always on a good wheel and I never had to do a big effort before I launched my sprint so that's we win."
"If you told me a week ago I'd win 3 stages I'd think you were crazy," he laughs before finishing with a final word for Mark Cavendish, who Philipsen denied a historic 35th stage win. "Cav was really strong, I'd love to have seen him win"
