After taking the first Grand Tour victory of his career at the Vuelta a Espana earlier this year, Sepp Kuss is already hotly anticipating his return to Spain in 2024.
“Everything I have experienced this season gives me the motivation to achieve even more,” says the American of Jumbo-Visma in conversation with AS. Although he's previously mentioned that he is keen to return to a domestique role in next year's Tour de France, Kuss does want to try his best to retain the Red Jersey at the Vuelta, possibly leading the team.
“Very nice to start the Vuelta with number one. It is still far away and it will certainly be a challenge, but I will try to defend my title," explains Kuss. However, having now become a Grand Tour winner there are more goals he is keen to achieve in the coming seasons.
“I want to do more special things, like win a stage in the Giro, do something special in the Tour and in other important races," says Kuss. “We need to check my calendar first. I saw news that the Tour Colombia is returning, and I don't know if we're going, but something like this, for example, would be special. Then I will prepare a fixed part of the season for the Tour and the Vuelta.”
