This Sunday, the 2024 edition of the 'Race to the Sun', begins and leading a strong UAE Team Emirates lineup at Paris-Nice will the Portuguese star, João Almeida.
“I’m really excited and motivated to be kicking off the season at Paris-Nice," previews the 25-year-old in conversation with the official website of UAE Team Emirates. "It’s been a long off-season for me but it’s going to be a long year so it’s also important to be a bit patient. It’s my first race of the season so it’s hard to know exactly where the form is but I can say from training that my condition is good."
Having competed at Paris-Nice once previously in his career, finishing 8th in 2022, Almeida can this time count on support from the likes of Finn Fisher-Black, Marc Soler, Jay Vine and Brandon McNulty with Felix Grossschartner and Nils Politt completing the lineup. "I was top-10 here in the past so I’ll be aiming for more this year hopefully,” Almeida concludes optimistically.
