After Jan Tratnik's success on Saturday at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Team Visma | Lease a Bike are out to make it a double opening weekend success with victory at Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne.
“We are again at the start with a strong team. We don't have to change much tactically," previews one of the team's leading cards to play this Sunday afternoon in Belgium, Wout van Aert, in a pre-race interview with Wielerflits. "Of course I want to win, but that's what I wanted yesterday too. However, on Saturday we were able to create a luxury situation and that also increased our chances.”
In a dominant display from the team at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Tratnik took victory, van Aert third and Christophe Laporte fifth. Could a similar showing take place at Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne? “We can best play to our strength in the hill zone, to make a difference there,” van Aert previews.
“It goes without saying that we are going to try that. If there's a sprint involved, I'm probably the best card. But we prefer not to go to the finish with the fast guys,” he concludes. “I start with a slightly different feeling. I had to pay extra attention to the course, because I don't know it well. I'm happy to be there.”
