Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe can boast one of the most star studded squads in the entire peloton heading into 2025, packed with strength in depth. Arguably one of the more unheralded of the roster is Frederik Wandahl, although that doesn't make the 23-year-old Dane any less ambitious.
One of the ways for the Danish prospect is hopeful of making the next step in 2025, is by appearing for the first time in either the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France or the Vuelta a Espana. "I really want to ride a Grand Tour, and that is also the goal for next year," he explains honestly in conversation with Feltet. "We haven't discussed the race program yet, but I'm betting I'll be up for it.”
Given the vast quality on the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe team though, earning selection is something easier said than done. "It's a bit of a puzzle to go up in our team - especially when we have so many skilled riders to ride a Grand Tour," Wandahl admits. "I would like to develop even more for the one-day races and try to improve in the big finals. I think I have some good qualities for that. But I also have the Grand Tour, which I really want to try. I think that will also help me for the one-day races.”
Entering the fifth season with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe in 2025, the final of his current contract, it's also a big season for the Dane to prove his worth in a team with ever-growing ambitions. “They brought me in at a young age and they have developed me well over the years - constantly putting in the effort for each season," he assesses of his future. "I feel like I'm starting to be a rider they can trust 100 percent to be able to do the job they ask and deliver the results when I get the chance.”
"I definitely believe that I have a future at Red Bull, but now we have to see what offers can come," Wandahl concludes. "Then we have to take it from there. I won't rule anything out. Personally, I feel that I have the prerequisites to develop further. Then we have to see what the future brings.”
