Enric Mas made his 2024 debut today in the opening 10km time trial of the Tirreno Adriatico on a technical course that was not suited to his characteristics. He finished 38 seconds behind the winner Juan Ayuso and 16 seconds behind Jonas Vingegaard.
After the race, he told Eurosport that he has prepared to perform and hopes to get his first win of the year before the Tour de France. "The team is doing very well, I don't seem to be doing so well. This week is the first race of the year, we are looking forward to it and we are going for everything. We have trained so that this week we try to give some joy. Both this week and in two weeks (Volta a Catalunya) and we hope that on the way to the Tour we can achieve some victory."
He was also asked by Eurosport colleagues about the fact that Remco Evenepoel, Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar were already winning races. He, tired after the effort, insisted that he hopes to win before the Tour. "The best are already winning, but I hope I can do it before the Tour like I said."
