"I have to thank them for the whole week, but especially for today" - Wout van Aert dedicates Tour of Britain victory to Jumbo-Visma teammates

For the second time in three years, Wout van Aert has taken overall victory at the Tour of Britain after a thrilling final stage in Caerphilly.

Although Carlos Rodriguez managed to solo to the stage win, van Aert kept the time gap small enough to secure the overall victory for the second time in his illustrious career. "At that moment I didn't think I could still win the final classification," van Aert admitted afterwards, referencing Rodriguez's attack that saw the Tour de France stage winner ride clear.

The Spaniard had started the day 29 seconds behind van Aert and at one point that did look like being at risk. The Jumbo-Visma rider however, managed to power towards the overall victory and he was full of praise for his teammates.

"Luckily for me, my teammates came back," says the Belgian. "I have to thank them for the whole week, but especially for today."
