"I don't expect really to push on the climbs" - Primoz Roglic doesn't believe Evenepoel and Vingegaard will take risks during today's Itzulia Basque Country stage

Primoz Roglic snatched the yellow jersey and has safely carried it throughout stage 2 of Itzulia Basque Country. At the start of another hilly day - which should end in a reduced bunch sprint or breakaway triumph - the Slovenian has shared his thoughts on the day.

"It was nice, huh. Just enjoying, the guys were strong, it was a bit sketchy at the end and tweaky," he said of this Tuesday's stage, which saw quite a few crashes in the finale and some GC contenders losing time. "Rain still following us from Paris-Nice but hopefully today stays dry."

It was his first day in yellow as a BORA - hansgrohe rider and his safety in the race lead has increased as second placed rider Jay Vine lost time on the road. Roglic now starts stage 3 with a 10-second lead over Mattias Skjelmose and Remco Evenepoel. He should be under very little threat of losing the jersey today, unless it is by option as the day is very fitting for a breakaway.

"We'll see huh. Looking to how strong the guys are and everything, I don't expect really to push on the climbs but first the first climb, I think there will be a big fight for the break we have to manage it well," he concluded. Very reserved words from the Slovenian, who looks to keep his powder dry for the final three stages that will decide the overall classification.
