"No, it's fine, let them ask, that's what we are here for," Tejada said regarding the transfer rumors in quotes collected by
Deportes RCN. "Well, yes, a piece of news came out from my manager and we all say yes, there are conversations, not only with this team (Astana), but with other teams."
He explained that his recent success has given him plenty of options to consider for the upcoming season. "I am very happy because a lot of doors have opened for me after Paris-Nice," he affirmed.
Among the teams closely monitoring his situation are heavyweights like UAE Team Emirates, EF Education-EasyPost, and Ineos Grenadiers. The Colombian rider hopes to have his contract situation completely sorted out by the summer.
"Surely during the Tour, or before the Tour, I will have already made a decision on whether I continue at Astana, or change to Ineos, or to UAE, or to Education First," he commented.
Despite the tempting offers from rival teams, Tejada expressed deep gratitude toward XDS Astana Team, the squad where he has spent the bulk of his professional career. Now in his seventh season with the setup, he feels valued and comfortable.
"I am giving priority to Astana, I have been with my team for seven years now, I have a position there, a very privileged place," he concluded. "They have given me the opportunity, they have opened the doors for me for seven years."
