Home success for the Netherlands as Ilse Pluimers is crowned women's U23 European Champion

Ilse Pluimers of the Netherlands has taken victory in the women's under-23 road race at the European Championships after a stunning late attack.
After Zoe Backstedt had threatened to solo to victory, the peloton were all back together as they entered the final lap of the race. Then as the finish line neared, Anna Schackley and Ilse Pluimers began to ride clear.
At the line, it was Pluimers of the Netherlands who prevailed, narrowly ahead of Great Britain's Shackley with Switzerland's Linda Zanetti rounding out the podium.

- i completely agree. wouter has been through a meat grinder. he’s such a class act, a man of such character that he would never complain or make excuses, that’s why it’s so infuriating to hear him spoken about as if he was failing, choking, or in any way not fulfilling what’s expected of him. i get it, he’s a PRO, so part of what he gets paid for is to be a target for anyone with an opinion. fair enough.
