During this transfer window, one of
Jumbo-Visma's signings particularly stands out. The acquisition of
Bart Lemmen, a former Air Force officer who had only ridden for
Human Powered Health for just one year.
"What Bart does well is thinking without limits. Few club riders think in advance that they can win, but Bart does," Tino Haakman, one of Lemmen's former sports directors says in conversation about the 28-year-old he calls 'the Roglic of the Netherlands' in conversation with In de Leiderstrui. "Everywhere you see that selection is becoming increasingly younger. But there are also lateral entrants. Roglic is one of them, and so is Bart. But just like Roglic, he is also a very all-round rider."
Now, joining Jumbo-Visma and superstars like Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert, Sepp Kuss and more, can Lemmen continue to show brilliant results? "We knew that if he continued like this, he would be worthy of continental or pro-continental, but few people expected Jumbo-Visma," says a former teammate of Lemmen. "In practice, he has been a professional for less than a year, so you can probably still make progress. It will be a journey of discovery."
"In any case, he doesn't have that much training years, so he's getting stronger over the years," adds Haakman in conclusion. "I am very curious what they will do with him at Jumbo-Visma and how they see him as a rider."
