- I find it perplexing when people go public with opinions like this. It is difficult to justify the narrative that an athlete’s dominance somehow constitutes a systemic issue for their sport, and in this case, the ruining of a race.
While I admit that long range 70-odd-k solo breaks can sometimes dampen the suspense of a race, that is a critique of the competition, not Tadej. I don't hold his dominance against him. Do I find the race a bit boring? Sure, a little bit. Do I dislike Tadej for it? Not at all.
Tadej is great for the sport, and has arguably helped to generate more interest in our sport since 2021 than we’ve seen in last century combined.
What I cannot abide, however, is the faction of toxic supporters who use their fandom as a platform for harassment. These individuals, who routinely disparage and disrespect Tadej’s competitors, do not represent our cycling community. I make a conscious effort to separate them from Tadej; their opinions are of no reflection on him, and he has actively spoken out against them. Ultimately, their hostility is a poor reflection of the sport we love, not the athlete they claim to admire.
- The sight of Urška lying motionless on the tarmac was horrific. While the confirmation of a broken jaw was grim, I felt a huge sense of relief that the damage wasn't more severe. Hoping her recovery goes okay…
And witnessing Tadej so visibly shaken, and moved by her pain, was as heartbreaking as it was a testament to his relationship with her 💔
- I'd like to see him try... it'll be interesting, because there is a chance he'll be caught.
- Should be a time gap there
- ...or will Tadej attack off the last climb and solo to the finish to get to the hospital to see Urska quicker.. it only 60km from the bottom of the descent
- is it a reflex that pogi fanboys to defame commentators whenever they say/write something that is not pure praise of their messiah? zonneveld may voice populistic opinions from time to time, but in this one he stated a perfectly reasonable hypothesis. why disrespect him with personal comments that add nothing to the conversation?
- Oooh dear
- Multiplying by 20/9 doesn't really seem like much but whole numbers are much nicer than decimals. With percentages giving it to 1 d.p is more than enough but that would be quite inaccurate for degrees.
- Loving the comments re GOAT. I think he is using the race just to fine tune himself and some of his team mates. Again it seems all the big hitters are sitting on the side lines waiting for the TDF and getting worried with the ease Pog is simply riding away on the climbs. He appears to have no stress compared to the efforts of other riders. I hope is partner is recovering well from her crash and surgery goes well.
- somehow their logic is that a large computer, which is actually EASIER to read is a distraction so they won't see the bump.
and don't forget the long socks that could have caused this crash too.
