Movistar Team continues to shape its future with the signing of Mads Landbo, a Danish rider born in Hørsholm in 2004. He will join the telephone-backed squad from 2027 and has signed a three-year deal through 2029. A major move in the cycling transfer market.
Landbo arrives at Movistar Team after completing his development within Danish cycling, with Team ColoQuick as his final step before jumping to the WorldTour.
At 22, the Scandinavian has established himself as one of the most promising young specialists in the time trial, while also showing the versatility to perform in varied race scenarios and finish off small-group contests with composure.
His progression began to yield major results in 2025. That year, Landbo was crowned Danish under-23 time trial champion and also won a stage at the Tour of South Bohemia. His prowess against the clock also earned him fifth place in the under-23 European Championship time trial.

Under-23 Danish time trial champion for Movistar Team

The Dane has taken another step forward in 2026, a season in which he has put together several standout results. A few weeks ago he won the overall at the Flanders Tomorrow Tour and added a stage victory.
His season had already shown clear signs in May, when he claimed two stage wins at the Peace Race. Later, at the Danish Championships, he finished fifth in the elite time trial and reclaimed the national under-23 title in the discipline.
The latest proof of his level came at the U23 World Championships in Montreal last week, where Landbo finished a commendable fifth.

“It’s a huge opportunity for me”

The Danish rider himself expressed real excitement about joining Movistar Team and highlighted the connection he feels with the Spanish structure.
“I’m genuinely very excited to join the team. It’s a huge opportunity for me and, from the outside, it really looks like an amazing team. I also think it’s a team that fits me very well, so I’m really excited about the coming years,” says Landbo.
From Movistar Team’s side, Sebastián Unzué particularly underlines the attributes the new signing brings. The team manager believes Landbo can deliver from day one thanks to his time trial qualities and his speed in the finales.
“We’re very happy to welcome Mads. He’s a rider who will add value from the first day: a great time trialist and, in addition, a fast, powerful cyclist for sprint finishes. We trust that the jump to the WorldTour will accelerate his progression and development as a rider. Welcome to your new home, Mads!”, says Unzué.
With his arrival, Movistar Team secures one of Danish cycling’s brightest young prospects, particularly in the time trial, and offers him a three-year contract to continue his development in the WorldTour.
