Gran Camino: Richard Carapaz, Neilson Powless, Rigobert Urán and Hugh Carthy in EF Education-EasyPost's lineup

Team Visma | Lease a Bike are taking Jonas Vingegaard and Cian Uijtdebroeks to O Gran Camino but they will not go unchallenged. EF Education-EasyPost are using the Spanish race to give more racing kilometers to several of their leaders.
This includes Richard Carapaz who has moved from Colombia recently, he won the queen stage there and could be Vingegaard's main rival this week in Galicia. However the team has more weapons which it can use in the hilly stages to try and create chaos for the Dutch team - who should not find an alliance throughout the week.
Neilson Powless, Rigoberto Urán and Hugh Carthy are all legitimate contenders for the overall classification and strong climbers, whilst Andrea Piccolo can chase wins on the hilly days. Youngsters Lukas Nerurkar and Darren Rafferty complete the lineup to support it's leaders.

- What a simplistic analysis. Nobody knew in advance Almeida would finally have his streak. Nobody can know if this streak is perhaps also DUE to knowing he’s not on Giro duty. Nobody knows if with all his efforts so far this year, he’d have enough left for 3 weeks of Giro, - especially now that he’s “become a sprinter” :-) And finally, after all the success and effort and then trying to win the Giro, how much would he have left to be there for Tadej in the Tour. Trust me, between letting Almeida win a GT and improving Tadej’s chances of securing another Tour, you can bet UAE have their priorities. Your logic here is like claiming we don’t need police because you heard a story of an officer stopping a woman who’s lost her waters for document checking on her way to hospital. It was just a stupid person exploiting his powers, am sure he was not specifically instructed to do this at this event by management in Switzerland. It is far more likely he could have been given some ( maybe financial) incentive by someone to be difficult, cycling isn’t always as friendly a family as it tries to portray.Mistermaumau05-05-2025
