The Giro d'Italia reaches its second rest day with its swords raised high. Now the first two weeks of the competition have passed, the high mountains will finally arrive and we will really see the real state of form of the favourites, who are separated by just a few seconds in the general classification.
Bruno Armirail continues as leader for one more day despite losing some time to the rest of the top 10 and will almost certainly lose the Maglia Rosa in the mountain stage next Tuesday. Geraint Thomas, Primoz Roglic and Joao Almeida maintain their positions behind with just 22 seconds between them with Andreas Leknessund in fifth.
The top 10 is closed out by Damiano Caruso more than two and a half minutes behind and Lennard Kämna, Eddie Dunbar, Thymen Arensman and Laurens de Plus more than 3 minutes down (watch out for the two INEOS Grenadiers for a possible offensive strategy). Just outside the top 10 are riders such as Thibaut Pinot, Hugh Carthy, Aurélien Paret-Peintre, Einer Rubio and Santiago Buitrago.
