Juan Pedro Lopez of Trek-Segafredo had to undergo surgery last weekend in Seville. For the Spanish climber with sinusitis, a surgical procedure was determined to be the most beneficial treatment.
During a social media post, Lopez announced that the surgery went well. "It's not the way I would have liked to end the season, but I had to go. I had sinusitis surgery yesterday, but everything went well. I want to thank the doctors at the Sagrado Corazón hospital in Seville for their professional guidance. I hope to perform even better in 2023,” Lopez wrote on his social media post.
López experienced his breakthrough in the pros this year. His performance at the Giro d'Italia surprised many. He held on to the pink jersey for ten days after taking the lead on the slopes of Mount Etna in the fourth stage. At the end of three weeks of racing, Lopez ranked tenth overall. He also got the white jersey at the end of the tour. He also participated in Vuelta a Espana but failed to deliver this time.
