Giovanni Aleotti (Bora–Hansgrohe) won the third stage of the
Sibiu Cycling Tour.
Harm Vanhoucke (
Lotto Soudal) narrowly missed the victory and finished second.
Cian Uijtdebroeks followed soon and finished third.
Serban Luncan (Romanian selection), Conor Schunk (Global 6 Cycling), Eric Lutter (P&S Benotti), Petr Klabouch (ATT Investments), and Stefano Gandin (Team Corratec) created a distance of around seven minutes from the peloton at the start of the race . The breakaway riders were caught at the foot of the final climb.
Jan Barta (Elkov-Kasper) was the first to launch the attack but remained unsuccessful, After several attempts to break away, Cian Uijtebroeks successfully created some distance. After Uijtebroeks' breakaway, It was Aleotti's turn to do his part. He managed to beat Vanhoucke in an uphill sprint. Vanhoucke had to settle for second place. Aleotti now leads the general classification.
