Gijs Leemreize concludes his season with a broken collarbone from Gran Piemonte

Gijs Leemreize had undoubtedly imagined his last race for Jumbo-Visma differently. The Dutchman, who will race for Team DSM-Firmenich from 2024, broke his collarbone in a fall in the Gran Piemonte. Jumbo-Visma reports this on the team website.

Leemreize crashed on Thursday in the last fifty kilometers of the Gran Piemonte. He was unable to continue on his way and appears to have broken his collarbone. The Gran Piemonte was Leemreize's last competition in the colors of Jumbo-Visma.

The 23-year-old rider will ride for Team DSM-Firmenich from next year. He has signed a two-year contract with the Dutch team. For the past three seasons, Leemreize has been under contract with Jumbo-Visma, after also racing for the training team for a year. He was the first rider to make the step from the training team to the WorldTeam.
