GC update Tour de Pologne 2025 stage 2 - Lapeira takes the lead; Vacek, Tiberi and McNulty the main favourites for overall victory

The Tour de Pologne has entered the hills on it's second day and we've had a surprise. Whilst many riders had the chance to finish high in Karpacz, few would've expected Paul Lapeira to be the strongest on the day and to climb to the overall lead.

The second day of the race is the one with the toughest uphill finish but the gradients were not high enough for anyone to take risks into the final kilometer where Michal Kwiatkowski led the way. Jan Christen launched an attack with 300 meters to go but it proved to be too early and the Swiss rider exploded.

Lapeira came through with a late dash to the line but an incredibly powerful one, which saw him take victory - his first one of the year. Mathias Vacek finished second and has extended his lead over his direct competition. The final time-trial should remain the key day for the GC in this race and out of the time-trial specialists Antonio Tiberi and Brandon McNulty also finished high up.
