UAE Team Emirates has secured another climber for it's squad, as Austrian champion
Felix Grossschartner has been announced on a two-year deal that will run all the way into the end of 2024.
“I‘m excited to join UAE team Emirates and I am looking forward to the challenges in the future. It is one of the best teams in the world and I am happy to be a part of it. I am sure that my qualities as a rider are an asset to the team and that I will help to achieve good results," Grossschartner said in a press release.
BORA have just signed Bob Jungels who will largely fill the void left by Grossschartner, however with the focus on it's Austrian contingent, the German team will not be pleased to see the country's double national champion leave. The 28-year old's signing comes the day after Tim Wellens was also confirmed in UAE, two riders who should have similar roles as stage hunters.
Besides the national titles, the Austrian has finished the Tour de Suisse in seventh place, and has been close to the yellow jersey at the Tour de Romandie. He's been victorious with the German team since 2019, including a title at the Tour of Turkey - at the time a World Tour event.
Although Grossschartner is expected to serve a role within the supporting lineups for Tadej Pogacar and João Almeida in the coming years, he is also likely to have the freedom to hunt for his own results occasionally.
