First Wolfpack victory on the new @iamspecialized Tarmac SL8 🤩 Great job, @FabioJakobsen!
Fabio Jakobsen manages to take another win at the Tour de Denmark. The 26-year old rode a frustrating Tour de France after a crash, but showed on Wednesday that he is completely back. In a strong sprint everything clicked after a while and allowed the Dutchman to raise his hands while crossing the line.
Jakobsen then won twice at Baloise Belgium Tour, the stage victory in Denmark was good. "Winning always feels good, but especially now, after a tough summer with my Tour de France crash and subsequent retirement. But I never gave up and with the support of this great team I have once again shown what I am capable of," he exults through the official channels of Soudal Quick-Step.
The fact that Jakobsen is busy with his farewell tour with The Wolfpack will undoubtedly cause mixed feelings. From 2024 he will ride for DSM-firmenich, but on Wednesday he noticed again that he has a good lead-out at Quick Step. "I'm really happy. I couldn't have wished for a better return to competition."
Jakobsen's win count now stands at six this season. This year he already won one or more stages at Vuelta a San Juan, Tirreno-Adriatico, Tour de Hongrie and the Baloise Belgium Tour. At the Tour of Denmark, he will likely have one more chances on fourth day, if he gets through the punchy course.
