Ezra Caudell woken up from coma and apparently in good spirits: "It wasn't long before he was making jokes again"

Ezra Caudell was victim to a freak crash at the comeback edition of Philadelphia Cycling Classic at the end of August. The young Modern Adventure Pro Cycling cyclist was placed in an induced coma to treat his immediate injuries, but most recent update by his team indicates positive signs two weeks after the accident.
The Philadelphia Cycling Classic's return to professional calendar was considered a large success sporting-wise, however the race's main event; the elite men's road race did not go without a horror scenario.
Halfway through the race, a duo consisting of Ezra Caudell and Milan Menten attempted to bridge towards the breakaway. When all of a sudden, Caudell crashed in a moment of lowered attention and hit a lamppost. The 20-year-old American was placed in an induced coma with chest trauma but, more worrying, a potential brain injury.
Promising development
Fortunately, it seems as though the worst of damage has been avoided in the newest team update. Caudell has finally woken up from the induced coma, allowing a further assessment of the consequences of his crash.
"Ezra remains on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), which is providing support while his lungs continue to heal. Yesterday (Thursday, September 10) marked an important milestone: he was successfully weaned from deep sedation and taken off the ventilator, allowing his family and medical team a much clearer assessment of his neurologic status."
The team calls the progress made by Caudell in recent days encouraging towards his future life, whether it involves cycling or not:
"Despite the severity of his injuries - and very much consistent with Ezra’s personality - it wasn’t long after waking that he was making jokes and sending short videos to his teammates. His ability to interact, communicate, and recognize those around him has been an especially welcome and encouraging development.

Cautious optimism
The positive cognitive response from Caudell was hopefully only the first of many "positives" on the youngster's path to full recovery. However it allows the team to sound cautiously optimistic in that regard.
"Important milestones still lie ahead. But after an extraordinarily difficult 11 days, there is genuine reason for hope as he begins his road to recovery," the update concludes.

You wouldn't take anyone very seriously if they said that, but that's how bad this stupid clown is. CBC really can't find a single ex-pro Canadian rider who can do a better job? I'D do a better f***ing job and I'd do it for free and all the poutine I can eat. A rabid beaver would be a better analyst than Harnett. I hope everyone who attends has a great time.
