Reigning holder of the rainbow bands, Remco Evenepoel will return to the World Championship alongside an extremely talented Belgian squad that holds the possibility to compete on multiple fronts.
Evenepoel was the winner last year in Wollongong ahead of Christophe Laporte. Fourth on the day last September was his compatriot Wout van Aert and the Jumbo-Visma has also been announced as part of the Belgian lineup for this year's road race in Glasgow. The current Green Jersey and winner of four stages so far at the 2023 Tour de France, Jasper Philipsen is also included, giving the team plenty of different options to ensure the return of the rainbow jersey to Belgium.
Due to Evenepoel being the reigning champion, the Belgians have a team of 9 riders to take on the Glasgow course. Alongside the aforementioned trio are Tiesj Benoot, Nathan Van Hooydonck, Jasper Stuyven, Yves Lampaert, Frederik Frison and Victor Campenaerts. Notable omissions include the likes of Tim Merlier and Oliver Naesen.
