The big news going into the 2023 Vuelta a Espana is that the now two-time Tour de France champion, Jonas Vingegaard will be heading to the race. The star power is arguably as big as ever before at the Spanish Grand Tour and the Eurosport analysts are excited to see how reigning champion Remco Evenepoel will fare.
“Primoz Roglic and Evenepoel really make the Vuelta a goal, but it can also be a bit disappointing with Vingegaard. It's not the Grand Tour everyone is working towards. Unlike the Tour, everyone is at their best there. Just see the interview from Matej Mohoric," says Jan Hermsen on the Kop over Kop podcast. “Then you think: great, Richard Carapaz to the Vuelta. But it is not said that he immediately rides his best. We don't play computer games. Dropped out in the Tour, go to the Vuelta. Just ask a rider: the Vuelta is not the main goal, is it…? But it will be beautiful.”
The potential battle of the reigning Vuelta champion Remco Evenepoel against a Jumbo-Visma team that will boast the 2023 Giro d'Italia champion Roglic and 2023 Tour winner Vingegaard in the ranks. “Evenepoel against Jumbo's block will be a great battle. Roglic together with Vingegaard. And Vingegaard may not be as good as in the Tour, but it will be nice," poses Jip van den Bos.
"With Juan Ayuso also there and Geraint Thomas, I wonder how Remco will be. It will be his second Grand Tour of the year," adds Hermsen. “Another icing on such a huge cake! It will be the most beautiful round of the year for sure."

💛 Congratulations, Jonas Vingegaard! See you at #LaVuelta23 😉
