Elisa Longo Borghini back on the bike after missing World Championships due to surgery

Elisa Longo Borghini was cruelly forced to exit the Tour de France Femmes and subsequently miss out on the 2023 Glasgow World Championships but the road to recovery has taken a positive stride with pictures shared of the Italian back on her bike.

"The good news of the day: Elisa Longo Borghini is back in training!" Lidl-Trek posted to their official Twitter account beside a picture of the Italian national champion riding her bike. "After withdrawing from Tour de France Femmes 2023 due to a skin infection, she needed surgery and time to fully recover. Now the Italian champion is back to health, she can start to ride again. Elisa will have a gradual return to training, so her racing schedule will be decided according to her progress."
