Egan Bernals earns first UCI points since life-threatening crash

Egan Bernal has had a past in the Italian Autumn Classics, however this year his presence in them may be one of the most important in his career. The Colombian is on a journey to try and get back to his best racing form, and at the Coppa Sabatini he's scored his first UCI points since returning to competition.

Bernal rode to 28th position on the day, six minutes exactly down on the winning group, but in a position high enough to gather 5 UCI points. Meaningless for most, however showing the possibility of his returning to a competitive level. Bernal was the only rider besides Daniel Martínez to conclude the race, and he will soon be racing the Memorial Marco Pantani aswell with good signs being shown.

INEOS Grenadiers succeeded in the race as Daniel Martínez keeps showing a good run of form, as he sprinted to the win in the Italian race, after being close to it at the Giro della Toscana.
