Richard Carapaz is under interest of several teams, as INEOS Grenadiers seek to maintain one of their main weapons, but is met with competition from Movistar Team and EF Education-EasyPost who are looking to expand their South American contingent.
We are in talks with INEOS to renew, and with Movistar. There are three teams interested, EF Education-EasyPost is also interested," Carapaz' agent Giuseppe Acquadro told VeloNews. Despite a strong run at INEOS Grenadiers and sole leadership, there is currently contact with other teams, with the American team revealed to also be interested in the Ecuadorian.
Acquadro confirms aswell that Carapaz is looking for a long-term contract, "a contract for three or four seasons" he says. Carapaz has joined INEOS in 2020, after another three-year stint at Movistar Team - which are currently seeking to recover Carapaz as Alejandro Valverde is set to retire at the end of the season.
Carapaz is a main favourite for the ongoing Giro d'Italia, and sits in fourth place in the overall classification with a performance that is yet to see a weak point. In the following days, as the race develops, Carapaz is likely to remain as a possible winner of the Giro d'Italia.
