Jayco AlUla hopes to perform well with Dylan Groenewegen in the sprint stages of the Renewi Tour. The 30-year-old Dutchman is the most eye-catching name on the Australian team's line-up, but the formation is not only aiming at Groenewgen.
For Groenewegen, the Renewi Tour is his second race since the Tour de France. Last Sunday he also rode the BEMER Cyclassics. The fast man was part of the front group, but could not conquest the victory in the final. Groenewegen thus hopes for success in the upcoming Renewi Tour.
“I am happy to be able to race again after the Tour de France. I rode a regular Tour, but I just didn't manage to win a stage. After a short rest I started training again for the last part of the season. The feeling is good and it is always fun to race on Belgian roads, with so many spectators along the side of the road. We are at the start with a strong team and I hope we can prevail in the sprints."
With Luke Durbridge, Amund Grøndahl Jansen, Blake Quick, Elmar Reinders, Campbell Stewart and Zdeněk Štybar as teammates, Groenewegen can count on a strong sprint train. However, Jayco AlUla does not put all his eggs in Groenewegen's basket. "We are going to the Renewi Tour with a classically tinted team," sports director David McPartland outlines. "We have Dylan for the sprints, but we also have some strong pawns for the general classification."
