Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale set to debut new kit at the Grand Prix de Denain with Sam Bennett leading the team at the French semi-Classic

Having revealed their brand new kit that they will be wearing for the rest of the season yesterday, Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale are set to debut their freshly revealed colours at the Grand Prix Denain tomorrow.

The new kit comes as a result of a rebranding by their title sponsor Decathlon, with the team’s jerseys changing to reflect the French sportswear company’s new colourway. The kit is galaxy-themed, with their jersey somewhat resembling a night sky. It also features Decathlon’s new logo, which they call ‘The Orbit’.

Debuting the new kit in Thursday’s race will be the team’s statement signing for this season Sam Bennett, along with Paul Lapeira, Jordan Labrosse, Damien Touzé, Baptiste Veistroffer and Norwegian veteran Edvald Boasson Hagen, who also signed for the team over the winter. The team will be hoping to achieve a strong result with Bennett, after what has been a somewhat lacklustre start to life at the team for the Irishman.

Having finished tenth at this race last season, Lapeira spoke in an interview with his team ahead of the race, with the Frenchman stating that “I like the Grand Prix de Denain. Last season, I finished tenth after being in the breakaway. My role this year will be to stay at the front until the cobbles come into play. After that, depending on how the race goes, I’ll try to take part in breakaways and work for Sam Bennett if there’s a sprint finish”.
