David Gaudu - "To be second in Paris-Nice and fourth in the Tour of the Basque Country, it's not so bad"

David Gaudu demonstrated his impressive cycling abilities throughout the Itzulia Basque Country, finishing in an admirable fourth place in the general classification, despite facing tough competition and narrowly missing out on victory in several stages.

“It's cruel to be 4th in the bonuses, but there was more in the sprint,” he said. He looks back on the final stage. “It was a very tactical final where I tried to make myself forget. When I saw that it was coming back behind Knox, I got stuck in the wheel of Higuita. To be second in Paris-Nice and fourth in the Tour of the Basque Country, it's not so bad.”

He was able to secure a place within the top 10 in four stages, leaving him feeling satisfied with his overall performance. "When you see my level this week, it's a bit unexpected. I had some allergies, I was at a loss. The team was able to support me, and I held on thanks to that. I fought with myself. I didn't want to give up and bring back this podium. I was a little bit better today, which is good for the Ardennes,” concluded the Frenchman.
