In the aftermath of having been confirmed as the leader of Groupama - FDJ for the upcoming Tour de France, David Gaudu has been announced to have sign for an additional two years with the French team - adding to his already prior contract until 2023.
Gaudu will be eyeing the overall classification at the Tour de France, an ambitious goal for the 25-year old who has in the past years struggled with consistency, however shown to be a brilliant climber on his best day. Gaudu is a product of the team's development ranks and has become one of the cornerstones of the team in recent years.
A pro since 2017, Gaudu has won stages at the Vuelta a España, Critérium du Dauphiné, Itzulia Basque Country and Tour de Romandie between others. This year he has taken wins at the Volta ao Algarve and the Dauphiné, both in reduced group sprints where he's proven his explosivity aswell - as he demonstrated with a podium at the 2021 Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
The Frenchman now has a contract until 2025, and with the aging of Thibaut Pinot and Arnaud Démare in the coming years, he's expected to become an even more important figure within the team.
