Cycling market: Astana makes official the signing of young Eritrean star Henok Mulubrhan

Official: Astana Qazaqstan Team has officially announced the signing of 23-year-old Eritrean rider Henok Mulubrhan for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The rider comes from the Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè team, where this season he has won stages in the Tour of Rwanda, the African continental championship or the overall of both Rwanda and the Tour of Qinghai Lake.

He is delighted with his signing: "I am very happy to join the Astana Qazaqstan team. It was my big dream to take this big step into the WorldTour and now this dream is coming true. I spent two years with my current team, and I can say that I had a good time here, so I am grateful for that. But now I feel it's time to move on. I'm very motivated to come to Astana and show my best by chasing some good results both personally and for the team."

With a boom in Eritrean cycling greatly enhanced by Biniam Girmay, Mulubrhan is one of the young riders who is able to gather more exposure because of it, but despite his young age he's already proven himself as a very strong pro himself with important wins this year, and the special jersey he carries on his shoulders since the early season.

Among his goals is to improve in the Grand Tours: "One of my biggest goals is to improve in the Grand Tours, to gain more and more valuable experience. Astana is a great team, one of the best in the world peloton and it is a great honor for me to join this legendary team. I would like to thank Astana and team general manager Alexander Vinokurov for believing in me. I am ready to work hard with the team."
