So did @E3SaxoClassic actually put Gleb Brussenskiy in the official results? This guy obviously took a short cut somewhere as he was riding on the bikeline when he got passed by Van Aert, Stuyven, etc. with a bit more than 3km to go.
Looking down the initial result list of the 2024 E3 Saxo Classic, a curious name pops up in 20th place, sandwiched between Biniam Girmay and Fred Wright... Astana Qazaqstan Team's Gleb Brussenskiy.
The reason this is a curious spot is because Brussenskiy was completely absent from most of the day's racing, especially in the finale. As more details have come to light however, it seems the Kazakh took a shortcut through the course in order to abandon the race, something not noted by the official results clearly!
Brussenskiy was actually spotted on the side of the road by TV cameras as Wout van Aert and Jasper Stuyven flew past with around 3km to go for the leaders, battling for second and third behind eventual winner Mathieu van der Poel.
