2024's E3 Saxo Classic was an incredibly dramatic and exciting edition of the historic Flanders Classic as Mathieu van der Poel soloed to a stunning victory.
With this being the first showdown of the 2024 road season between van der Poel and his arch-rival, Wout van Aert, the racing was incredibly fierce with both superstars on the move and the dark horses of the race counter-attacking in attempt to surprise the favourites. For van Aert, his race-winning hopes ultimately came crashing down on the Paterberg as his front wheel slipped on the wet cobbles bringing him down to the ground.
Although van Aert fought back bravely, eventually finishing 3rd, victory was van der Poel's. Either rewatch the thrilling action or catch up on all the drama in the video down below!
