BORA - hansgrohe have announced huge news today with the signing of Primoz Roglic. Unrelated however, one of it's other leaders, Cian Uijtdebroeks, is rumoured to be leaving the team after the Vuelta a Espana clash with Aleksandr Vlasov.
With the entrance of Roglic in the team, Uijtdebroeks' role will diminish, however he is certainly a priority for the team. Last year's Tour de l'Avenir winner has had a stupendous season this year with incredible consistency with Top10 results at the Tour of Oman, Volta a Catalunya, Tour de Romandie, Tour de Suisse and Vuelta a Espana. A very bright figure for the future, he certainly has the interest of many teams if he is to depart the German team.
He holds a contract until 2024. However during the Vuelta a Espana he talked about how in the final week Aleksandr Vlasov was attempting to finish ahead of him - even though they were fighting for seventh place. Eventually the Russian did succeed, but that episode led to an unusual situation within the team and it appeared evident that both leaders were not working towards a common goal.
Whether that would be a reason to depart or not is unknown. Although relatively vague, French journalist Charles Marsault reports that several sources indicated Uijtdebroeks wants to leave the German team, and Groupama - FDJ is a potential candidate for a signing.
