Amazon pull out of possible Jumbo-Visma, Soudal - Quick-Step merger

The merger between Jumbo-Visma and Soudal - Quick-Step now looks more and more unlikely. After the news dropped today that the deals were about to be off, it is now revealed that Amazon can no longer be a sponsor for the team.

With Jumbo leaving as a team sponsor from Jumbo-Visma, the Dutch lineup was in any scenario looking for replacements. A merger with Soudal - Quick-Step has been the main story of the past few weeks and seemed to be coming together, but that seems to now be falling apart. It is now unlikely that both teams will unite, but instead continue in relatively similar fashion to how they are currently.

Amazon was mentioned as a possible title sponsor for the merger team or only Jumbo-Visma into the coming seasons, however that will not happen according to AD. They add that Dutch company PON - who own Cérvelo, the bike brand the team uses - may come in as a possible new sponsor to help fill the gap.
