At the
Trofeo Andratx,
Cian Uijtdebroeks put up a good fight for the victory, ultimately losing to
Kobe Goossens, it was a great sight to see and a moment worth remembering during the race.
"I got tired and couldn't close the gap with Goossens anymore," he said after the race. He continues, "It was a super tough day. From the start of the race I tried to be in the lead, and in Vall de Mossa, I attacked.”
Later, he made the decision to fall back into the main group of riders and relinquish his efforts to catch Goossens.“A few kilometres later, five other riders were able to catch up. On the descent of the Coll de Sóller, Goossens joined them. I was the only one able to follow him after that. I really had to give everything to keep up with him, and unfortunately, I got tired and had to let go. Until the finish, I kept giving alone, but at kilometres from the line I still got caught back,” concluded Uijtdebroeks.
Uijtdebroeks has not had the strongest start to his season, with a 42nd-place finish at Trofeo Calvia and a 15th-place finish today in Trofeo Andratx. However, he had a remarkable achievement last year, by taking the overall victory in Tour de l'Avenir.
